Release of v2.7 of intraLibrary | 11/08/2006

The latest version of Intrallect's Learning Object Repository software has been released. Headline features include support for SCORM 2004 packages and rich collection-management and access-management features.

intraLibrary 2.7 has the following major new features:

  • Collections and access management. Sets of learning objects can be controlled and managed in distinct parts of the repository known as "collections". Administrators can control which users have access to objects in a collection. In addition it is possible to apply different licence models, metadata application-profiles and to different collections.
  • Getting alerts about new objects. Users can now be kept informed about new learning objects that meet specific search criteria, including classification. An "RSS" news feed can be created from any search or browse operation. The feed will contain a list of all learning objects which match the specified criteria. Users can use the RSS feed in any RSS reader or agregator, to receive alerts about new learning objects they might be interested in.
  • Interoperability improved further. It is now possible to import, validate and preview SCORM 2004 objects using intraLibrary. These objects can also be exported.
  • Internationalisation. A Spanish version of the web interface for intraLibrary is available for immediate use. Individual users can choose to use the English or Spanish version. There are also files containing the interface text which can be used to allow for efficient translation into any language.
  • Easier searching by external systems.. There is a new web service which makes it simple for external systems to search the contents of an intraLibrary repository. This web service conforms to the Search and Retrieve Web Service (SRW) specification also know as "SRU Web Services". Individual collections can be open or closed to external searching.
  • More functionality for administrators and librarians to access objects and change the objects state in a workflow.
  • The browsing interface has changed. Previously each node has two numbers to show the number of objects in that node and underneath that node. This information is now accessed by clicking on the node. For further details see the taxonomy interface document.
