"Microscope training" wins ALT LO Competition 2008 | 15/09/2008
A learning object that introduces students to the fundamentals of operating a microscope at the same time as reducing the time a tutor must spend providing one-to-one microscope tuition, was the judges choice in the 2008 ALT-C Learning Object Competition 2008.
“Microscope Training” which was created by Mike Lancaster of Keele University Medical School was shown at a special showcase at ALT-C in Leeds which included 4 other shortlisted candidates. It was subsequently awarded first prize along with a cheque for £300 at the ALT-C Conference Dinner the same evening.
“Microscope Training” was closely followed in the competition:
§ In second place by Barry Richards,Martin Griffiths, Toby Murcott and Sue Burnett with “Alien Worlds: The Structure of the Sun”
§ And by Maria Toro-Troconis of Imperial College London who took third place with “Patient with Type 1 Diabetes”
